Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to examine teacher perceptions of the 2013 and2015 teacher evaluation systems used in District X. A second purpose of this study wasto examine the extent to which teachers perceived the 2013 and 2015 evaluation systemsused improved teachers individually. An additional purpose of this study was to examinethe extent teachers perceived 2013 and 2015 evaluation systems used to improve theschool district’s instruction as a whole. The sample of participants included certifiedteachers in District X.This study was a quantitative research design using survey data provided byDistrict X. The population of interest for the study was certified teachers, teachinggrades PreK-12 who chose to respond to the surveys in 2013 and 2015. Results fromsurvey data indicated in almost every instance teachers had positive perceptions of the2013 and 2015 evaluation systems, teachers believed both evaluation systems were usedto improve teachers individually, and both evaluation systems were used to improve theoverall instruction of District X. Further studies with a larger sample size and qualitativedata on teacher perceptions of evaluation systems are recommended to ensure successfulimplementation of teacher evaluation systems.
